Picture Book Illustration
‘The Lonely Fisherman’
Devised and illustrated in my final year studying Illustration, ‘The Lonely Fisherman’ is a wordless picture book that draws on traditional tales of selkies and shapeshifters. Inspired in part by the Irish myth of the ‘Children of Lir’, I took great joy in illustrating these atmospheric island scenes.
‘Olive and the Whale’
A playful story of a young girl who dreams of seeing whales, I illustrated and wrote this picture book as part of a university project. Based off my experiences holidaying in the south of Ireland as a child, I loved translating my own memories into a whimsical story.
‘George’s Big Idea’ for Head of Steam Railway Museum, Darlington
I was commissioned to illustrate the pages of a picture book, telling the story of George Stephenson and the creation of the first passenger railway in Darlington, County Durham. Working with a local Storyteller, I created illustrations to be used in local schools and within the museum. Here are my favourite two pages - hens and cows!
